Started the new year off by running a BNSF unit coal train. Jim was having a few problems with the couplers on his coal train so he went through them all and replaced all the bad tracks and couplers. It seemed like the perfect time to lashup a coal train and make a video.
Our BNSF Detroit Edison unit coal train has 35 cars. We used distributed power with three powered engines and one dummy just like the real railroads are doing today. The whole train is MTh with the two lead engines being BNSF Executive SD70MAC’s, the middle engine a BNSF ES44DC, and the rear pusher engine another BNSF ES44DC.
